Machine Knitting Explorations

Knit swatches developed through machine knitting, that links to the visual research and development of coherent creative process. The Inspiration for the knit samples is a palace in Udaipur, India known as The City Palace. The Palace stands high and mighty amidst a very backward area of Udaipur. It stands for royalty and splendor. As for it surroundings, utter poverty is visible. This is extremely contrasting. Similarly, the Palace is extremely structured while the decoration and ornamentation inside the palace , such as the tiles, wall hangings, the jalis or the specially designed windows , etcetera are very floral and curvilinear.  This play of contrast is translated into the knit swatches through the use of contrast elements and colours.
